A photograph of the finished patio says more than any list of services – and that photo gallery is exactly what we are building up at the moment. Until our own project pictures from Düsseldorf, Wuppertal, Schwelm, Ennepetal, Meerbusch and Cologne appear here, this page gives you ten example projects: typical jobs of the kind that come up again and again in our service area between the Bergisches Land and the Rhine plain – from a paved driveway and a slope secured with gabions through to a maintenance contract (Pflegevertrag) for an apartment complex.
The descriptions are deliberately concrete: they name sub-base depths, falls, materials, machinery and the order of magnitude such jobs move in. That way you can judge what a project of this kind actually involves – and why a load-bearing build-up beneath the paving decides the service life just as much as the stone laid on top of it. These are expressly exemplary project descriptions and not documented client references: we do not publish the names, addresses or photographs of individual customers.
Does your garden, your yard or your outdoor space look different? That is the normal case. Soil, access, falls, groundwater level and the way you use the space all determine the build-up – which is why we come out and look before we calculate anything. After the free on-site visit you receive a fixed-price quote with every item set out: materials, labour, machinery and waste disposal.

Meerbusch-Büderich New garden layout after the house build
Once the shell of the house is finished, what is left of the garden is usually a compacted surface of building rubble, clay and wheel ruts. A project of this kind begins with stripping off that construction layer with a mini digger (Minibagger), fresh topsoil, a fine grade and a clear division into patio, path, bed and lawn – followed by concrete block paving for the paths, drought-tolerant perennial beds and turf. On the sandy loam soils of the lower Rhine terrace we lay the ducting and the drip lines for hedge and beds straight into the build-up while the surfaces are still open.

Düsseldorf-Benrath Driveway and front entrance in concrete block paving
Out with the old exposed-aggregate slabs and the sunken paving, in with 30 to 40 cm of frost-resistant crushed-stone sub-base compacted layer by layer, then a grit bedding course and concrete blocks on top – that is how you get a driveway you can still drive on, and which is still sitting level after its third winter. A job like this includes kerbs set in a concrete bed, a fall of roughly 2 % away from the house and a drainage channel in front of the garage or carport. For 40 to 50 m² of concrete block paving including sub-base, excavation and disposal, the guide prices are around €3,700–6,100 incl. VAT.
-
Wuppertal-Ronsdorf Porcelain stoneware patio with a flight of steps
Well over 1,000 mm of rain falls on the Wuppertal heights every year – up here a patio only lasts with proper excavation, a compacted crushed-stone base course, a grit bedding layer, a 2 % fall and a channel where the surface meets the house. Typical figures are 20 to 25 m² of porcelain stoneware in 2 cm thickness, a flight of steps down to the lower-lying lawn and a neat edge restraint in concrete block. We break out the old surface and take it away with us; for the complete job the guide prices are around €110–200 per m².
-
Schwelm-Oehde Slope stabilised with gabions and a block-step stairway
Steep plots are everyday business in Schwelm, Ennepetal and Wuppertal: the lawn washes away with every summer downpour, and the old dry-stone wall has been bulging for years. On a project of this kind we cut the slope back with a mini digger, found the wall below the frost line, set a gabion wall filled with greywacke and backfill it with gravel, geotextile and a drainage pipe so that no water pressure builds up behind the wall. A stairway of block steps links the new level to the seating area – guide price for gabions up to 1 m high: around €120–300 per linear metre.
-
Cologne-Rodenkirchen Turf for a family garden
On the sandy, gravelly soils of the Cologne lower terrace, every lawn laid without soil preparation scorches in the first dry spell. On a project of this size – around 180 m² – we therefore rotavate the old sward away, improve the soil with compost and sand, pull an exact grade and lay the turves tightly butted in a staggered bond, on the day they are delivered. Starter fertiliser, rolling and a watering plan for the first three weeks come with it; guide price for the finished job: around €18–45 per m².
-
Wuppertal-Elberfeld Sectional felling of a spruce on a slope
Between the house, the neighbouring garden and the power line there is no room to drop a tree – so a tree like this is dismantled from the top downwards using rope climbing technique, with every section of trunk rigged and lowered under control. Beforehand we measure the trunk circumference: in Wuppertal, trees are protected under the local tree protection by-law (Baumschutzsatzung) from 100 cm circumference measured at 1 m height, and we prepare the paperwork for the tree protection authority (Baumschutzbehörde) with you. Felling takes place between October and February, within the season set by the Federal Nature Conservation Act (Bundesnaturschutzgesetz); the stump is ground out 20 to 30 cm below ground level, and chipping and removal are included.
-
Ennepetal-Voerde Drainage and a soakaway against waterlogging
Shallow clay soil over slate and more than 1,000 mm of rain a year – in the Bergisches Land the water often stands in the lawn for days and runs down the slope towards the cellar wall. On a job like this we cut trenches to a fall with the mini digger, bed drainage pipes in gravel and filter fleece, collect the water in an inspection chamber and lead it into a soakaway (Rigole) made of infiltration crates, which lets it seep away. Guide prices: around €100–150 per linear metre for the complete drainage run.
-
Meerbusch-Osterath Twin-wire mesh fence with privacy screening and a driveway gate
Out in the open farmland around Osterath and Strümp, a fence has two jobs to do: marking the boundary and keeping the wind off. A typical project covers around 40 linear metres of 6/5/6 twin-wire mesh panels (Doppelstabmatten) at 1.80 m high, posts in frost-free pad foundations at least 80 cm deep, screening strips woven in on the road side, plus a pedestrian gate and a double-leaf driveway gate. We dismantle the old chain-link fence and dispose of it; guide price including foundations and installation: around €65–150 per linear metre.
-
Düsseldorf-Kaiserswerth Automatic irrigation for lawn and clipped hedge
Formal lawns and long clipped hedges only survive a hot Düsseldorf summer with a system behind them. For a plot of around 400 m² we plan four to six circuits based on water pressure and flow rate: pop-up sprinklers with an overlapping throw pattern for the lawn, drip line beneath the bark mulch for the hedge and the perennial beds, plus solenoid valves in a valve box and a controller with a rain sensor that can be operated from an app. In autumn we blow the pipework out so that it is safe from frost – guide price for a system of this size: around €2,000–3,500.
-
Cologne-Mülheim Grounds of an apartment complex on a maintenance contract
For property managers (Hausverwaltungen) and homeowners' associations (Eigentümergemeinschaften) we bundle together what otherwise takes three separate firms: mowing and bed care on a fortnightly cycle, two hedge trimming visits a year, leaf clearance in autumn, cleaning of paths, courtyard and bin store, plus the winter service from November to March including standby cover and written documentation of every call-out for the legal clearing and gritting duty (Räum- und Streupflicht). You have one contact, one contract and one invoice; in our experience the basic care of a block of flats works out at around €180–360 per month.
